HEInnovate 2026 Activity Highlights: Supporting Innovation in Higher Education
HEInnovate continued to support higher education institutions in reflecting on and strengthening their innovation potential during the first semester of 2026.
The latest Activity Report provides a snapshot of the tool’s use, recent activities and new resources. By June 2026, HEInnovate had reached over 38,000 users and 2,100 higher education institutions.
In 2026, users came mainly from Germany, Spain and Poland among EU countries, and from Türkiye, Ukraine and Georgia among non-EU countries. The tool continues to be used both individually and collectively, supporting self-reflection, discussion, prioritisation and action planning.
During the first semester of 2026, HEInnovate expanded its reach through over 12 in-person and online events, including information sessions, expert standing sessions, workshops and Train the Trainers activities. This included a dedicated HEInnovate workshop series involving 11 institutions, embedded in the Slovak national project “Enhancing Students’ Entrepreneurial and Innovation Potential” of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
New resources were also made available, including the HEInnovate Foundation Guide, the Quick Start Guide, the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit, the Basic Workshop Guide and the Guide for European Universities Alliances. The report also highlights new testimonials and case studies on how higher education institutions have used HEInnovate to support their innovation journey.
