HEInnovate webinar - How (supra-)national platforms support the digital enhancement of education in HEIs

This month’s HEInnovate webinar “National and institutional approaches of using digital tools to stimulate learning and professionalisation among higher education teachers” will take place on Thursday 28th  April 2022 at 5pm CEST

In this webinar, we will explore how higher education institutions use digital tools such as online platforms and other technologies facilitating collaboration to support the learning and professionalisation among teachers in higher education. We will also discuss how national education agencies and dedicated programmes can support institutions in developing and adapting some of these tools.



The webinar will be moderated by Ben Jongbloed and Andrea Kottmann from the Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies, and engage four experts:

  • Rasmus Benke Aberg, Team Lead of the Digital Education Hub of the German Stifterverband will present on Digital platforms connecting and supporting learning communities: learnings from Germany and Europe. The German organisation, Hochschulforum Digitalisierung offers support to the digital higher education community in Germany. Rasmus will highlight examples of good practices and upcoming opportunities to engage on a European level within the European Digital Education Hub, which will be launched soon
  • Lieke Rensink and Judith Huisman, from SURF – the Dutch Organisation for innovation with ICT - will present on “Stimulating the use and share of Open Educational Resources in Higher Education – the Dutch Experience”. Lieke is the leader of the project “Open educational resources” and relation manager of the zone “digital learning materials” as part of the Dutch acceleration plan for educational innovation with ICT. Judith is an advisor on educational innovation at SURF
  • Catherine Edelhard Tømte will present insights from her recent research on digital platforms and their role for professional learning communities in higher education. Catherine is professor at the Department of Information Systems at the University of Agder, Norway. In her research she focuses on the role of digitalisation in teacher training
