The next HEInnovate webinar will take place on Thursday, the 30th May 2024 at 5pm CEST.
In this webinar, Gillian Golden and Nikolaj Broberg from the OECD will provide an update on the work of the Education and Innovation Practice Community (EIPC), established in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (DG EAC). The work examines higher education’s role in supporting the development of innovation competencies in school education, higher education, and adult upskilling and reskilling.
The webinar will be moderated by Rebecca Allinson, Managing Partner at Technopolis.
Gillian Golden is a policy analyst and project manager in the OECD’s Higher Education Policy Team. In her eight years at the OECD she has worked on comparative and country-specific higher education projects in several domains, including resourcing, labour market relevance and outcomes, digitalisation and microcredentials. She also leads data and evidence development initiatives within the team. Her presentation will focus on the results of Strand 2 of the Education Innovation Practice Community (EIPC) initiative, exploring how the most important competencies for green and digital innovation can be fostered through mainstream higher education, and how policy can support practice in this regard.
Nikolaj Broberg is an analyst at the OECD's Directorate for Education and Skills. Since joining the OECD, Nikolaj's work has mostly focused on mapping the existing evidence base investigating the relationship between specific competencies and digital and green innovation. He also examines the role higher education can play in shaping these competencies and how public policy can guide these efforts. Following Gillian's presentation, he will move to the results of Strand 3 of the EIPC initiative, which examines the role higher education can play in shaping these competencies through upskilling and reskilling.
About the Education and Innovation Practice Community (EIPC)
It is an action of the European Commission New European Innovation Agenda (Flagship 4: Fostering, attracting and retaining deep tech talent), implemented with the OECD. It brings together policymakers and higher education practitioners but also private, non-profit, and school-level organisations. The network currently has around 950 representatives from around 80 countries (all EU Member States included). EIPC is organised in three work strands:
- developing mindset and competencies for innovation in secondary schools
- building capacity for innovative curricula and programme in higher education
- creating innovative, flexible and dynamic upskilling and reskilling opportunities in higher education
